How do you explain President Suleiman’s call for shaping a Defense Strategy that relies on the strength of the Lebanese Army and the Resistance?

President Michel Suleiman called for a Defense Strategy that “englobes all the elements of strength of the State and is in accordance with the notion of a sovereign State that defends its territory under its general policies. I am confident that we will be able to shape a strategy that will protect Lebanon with the help of its own armed forces and will take advantage of the strength and capabilities of the Resistance forces”.

How do you interpret this statement? Do you view it as the right introduction to the Defense Strategy?

Lebanese period.

President Michel Suleiman is threading a fine line based on the old Lebanese political traditions. This kind of politics is going to drag Lebanon further into the abyss. If his plan succeed, a large scale civil war would erupt in the very near future., Majority of Lebanese haven't forgotten the consequences of the Cairo accord.

patience...

Guys, let's keep in mind that the resistence even if it is of islamic nature and belief, it's 100% patriotic. Time has proven that. We can not eliminate like we did with the PLO. we also cannot forget its experience in fighting a israly army. But merging it into the leb army it will loose its power. Gen Suleiman is the best person to come up with the best solution for a joind force against ALL threts. Let's give him some time...

miss

No doubt The Resistance did a good job.But who is our Resistance? They are Lebanese men that believe in fighting to defend our land.Who is our Army? Our Army is composed of Lebanese men that are ready to defend our land. That's why I firmly believe that if our Army will get the same weapons and the same training they will be just like "The Resistance". I believe that we can only be strong against all our Enemy's if we have good Unity.Good Unity means all unite under one Leader. And the only leader I know that can lead the National Defense today legitemately,is our Army's Commander in Chief. If we have more then one commander in chief,we will have disunity, and consequently be weak from within. That means an easy prey.

Resistance is like taliban

Hizbullah is like the taliban. The Taliban stopped internal fighting but destroyed Afghanistan. Hizbullah got rid of Israel in the south but is distroying the country by distroying government institutions one at a time. I can not see the dual existance of an armed faction and a strong central governement.
